The Caravelle's removable seats offer you optimum cargo and passenger configuration every time - whatever your load. This efficiency goes beyond the cabin. The Common Rail TDI engine delivers impressively low fuel consumption, and combined with the 7-speed DSG Gearbox, it's even comparable to some hatchbacks (according to ADR81/02).

Flexibility

The Caravelle is the only 9 seat people mover in Australia. Each row of seats in the passenger compartment offers space, safety and comfort. And if the need arises, they can be easily removed to leave a level loading space that's great for transporting large luggage, furniture or other day-to-day items.

Flexible and spacious

The variable interior layout in the Caravelle allows you to adapt to any challenges that could pop up in everyday life. The seats in the passenger compartment can be removed completely if required while the folding 3-seater rear bench also offers additional flexibility and can be folded to accommodate extra luggage if needed.

Comfort features

Upon entering the Caravelle, your passengers are greeted with the high quality materials and premium workmanship typical of Volkswagen. The upholstery immediately creates a comfortable atmosphere, complemented by the standard “Climatic” air conditioning system. To ensure that you enjoy your drive in peace, the excellent noise insulation keeps exterior noise where it belongs, outside.

Safety systems

When you’re transporting passengers, you can't compromise on safety. That’s why the Caravelle is equipped with several electronic safety systems as standard to help protect you from nasty surprises. Optional innovative driver assistance systems also help you oversee traffic even better, with the highest level of driving comfort.

Driver assistance systems

Turning light: integrated in the optional fog lamps, it lights up curves and bends when you make a turn at 40 km/h or less. By creating better visibility on intersections and junctions, it allows you to anticipate possible risks sooner.

Rear View Camera: The Rear View Camera gives you an optimised view of the area behind the Caravelle, displayed on the screen of the Navigation System. Coloured lines on the display indicate the route for reverse parking. Rear View Camera is option combined with the RNS510 Navigation System.

Modern and intelligent

An intelligent safety concept supports you while you drive and aims to protect you from injuries in the event of an accident. Active safety systems including ESP and ABS to help you stay in control of the Caravelle when encountering dangerous situations. Should one unfortunately occur, dual airbags for driver and front passenger are deployed to minimise injury. The Caravelle also comes equipped with daytime running lights to increase visibility, and Cruise Control, to prevent driver fatigue on long journeys.

Park Distance Control

To help you park, the optional Park Distance Control scans the area behind and in front of the vehicle with ultrasonic sensors beeping to let you know as you approach an object. The optional parking assistance system “Rear Assist” displays the rear view camera's view on your radio navigation system to let you see what's behind your vehicle.

Overall protection

Electronic stabilisation programme (ESP): ESP, including hill holder, helps prevent the vehicle from losing control in critical driving conditions. Through its controlled and targeted intervention in the brake and engine management, it helps the Caravelle achieve maximum directional stability. The hill holder function prevents the vehicle from rolling back when starting off on a hill.

Anti-lock brake system (ABS): prevents wheels from locking up, significantly improving the manoeuvrability of the vehicle when braking hard.

Brake Assist system: By monitoring the speed at which the brake pedal is pressed, it judges reflex or emergency braking to apply the full brake pressure more rapidly.

Dynamic and economical

The extremely efficient common rail technology in the TDI diesel engine combines high performance with low fuel consumption. Meaning you can cut the cost of driving while knowing that you're producing significantly lower CO2 emissions.

Amazing engine - 103kW TDI

The latest generation of TDI engines have an excellent reputation for their high torque and superior levels of efficiency. These engines have been specially designed with the driver and the environment in mind and boast improved fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The experience behind the wheel is smooth and pleasurable with seamless gear changes thanks to the silky 7-speed DSG transmission.

Caravelle models feature a turbocharged 2.0 litre 103kW power train generating up to 340Nm of torque – that’s plenty of power to move lots of people and luggage.

7-speed DSG

Combined with the 103 TDI, a 7-speed direct shift gearbox (DSG) is offered. It allows you to change gears smoothly and quickly, without losing any driving power. By doing so, it also lowers fuel consumption and CO2 emissions over traditional automatics.
